Jogja Quake

Again in Asia Pacific ... Earthquake! Kolaka in Sulawesi with 5,2 SR on Wednesday - 27th December, Yogya with 3 SR (three times) on Thursday - 28th December and Papua New Guenea got earth quake in 4,9 SR on Friday - 29th December 2006. They said there will be no more Tsunami. Oh, my husband and I have just finished the Tsunami documenter, in Deutsch version. Tragic! Life oh life!

Sedih sekali, Indonesia kena Tsunami. Mulai Sulawesi, Jawa sampai Papua. Suami dan saya baru saja menonton dokumenter bencana Tsunami dalam bahasa Jerman. Berdoa dari jauh, untuk para korban.

Meno

Menopause (Meno) sounds scary ya? When will be mine? What could be happened? Am I ready for this? Now, I consume much cheese and milk. Anyway, I found the article in Kompas (red: Nova) just for my better knowledge.

1. It's not totally right that most of women got Meno in 50's. Most of them got it in 51 or 52 years but women (one another) will get Meno differently. For example A got it in her 30's meanwhile her mother got it in 50's and the aunty got it in 60's.

2. Women will get Meno syndrom (even in the period) few years before the last period. The period could be different than it used to be (longer or shorter) because of the hormon. Women still have a chance to be pregnant.

3. Before the Meno, it’s a big possibility to have hot flash even not all women get it. Approximately 80 – 85% women got it in pre or pasca Meno. To minimize the Hot flash; don’t drink alcohol and no spicy food. In another side estrogen therapy with doctor’s advice could be another choice.

4. Irregular period is commonly happened in pra Meno but not normal in pasca’s. See a doctor is the best way for this phase.

5. Women will get osteoporosis pasca Meno. Do right exercise is the tip to keep the bone strong. Second, consume a lot of calcium and vitamin D in food and drink.

6. Pipi problem in pasca Meno is also annoying. Estrogen is lower then many times should go to toilet even not really much out, pipi on pants,pipi in the middle of the night, pipi when laughing, sneezing or carrying heavy things, pipi when having sex or feel pain when pipi.

7. Most of women get Meno in 50’s and need longer time to be sexually flirted. In this phase, skins around vagina is thinner and dried thus can caused pain and uncomfortable feeling when having sex. One to another woman are different to face this phase. Some women enjoy sex with partner without afraid to be pregnant pasca Meno.

8. Some women will get problem to sleep in pra and pasca Meno. This will be worst to the closest phase of Meno. The example of the problems are; hard to sleep, too deep sleep,sleep again after woke up in the middle of the night or wake up too early.

9. The syndrom from sudden Meno will be worst. The sudden Meno can be happened from operation or cancer treatment. More care is needed here.

10. Meno is a natural process. Some women can handle the syndrome without medicine while others need a help from doctor.

Menopouse, setiap perempuan akan mengalaminya. Ternyata setiap orang memiliki pengalaman yang berbeda-beda. Banyak sebab dan faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Tentunya selain makanan dan minuman juga gaya hidup. Bye-bye stress.

Cemetry here and there
It was my wish from my sweet husband to visit cemetry from his family. He said he had a feeling to do so. It's not really common for his community but ours; yes! So, why not ... just be in his side.
First, his sentence was ..."No radio for today" and I was just giggling like a cockroach. Hi hi ...
It was so cold (minus 1), Chayenne cried a lot when we started to visit his cousin Ralf. He was burried together with his Papa. It was a big tragedy loosing him in this earth ... not that way ... a-a.
In my community, we believe when baby cried in the grave means s/he sees the spirit or scared with the atmosphere; sorrow!
I held her tight and she was fine. This little crunchy girl looked at Papa and brother who lightened the candle.
We went around to see Uhr Oma Maria Stegmann from Opa's and Uhr Oma Elizabeth Mattes. O - o ... she started to cried much more ... I held her again from the trolley. Cup cup ...
Above this all ... I could see how the grave management here is so nice and disciplin. In my country, we have to jump and look step by step when visiting.
They are not really taken care. One goes to North and other to other directions. That's not really beautiful and messy.But what can I do? Even the small path to go from one grave to another grave already occupied. My God!
In Germany, we have 20 or 25 years contract with few thousands Euro. When finished the dust or the bones should have a farewell party and the place welcomes any dead man.
In Indonesia, I guess we have the same with the payment system and contract things but somehow I am afraid of the corruption.
What else? I am afraid to die in Germany. I had an experience to stand up in such temperature in the funeral of one of our relative. Not so many people and sooo hard. I will not see hundreds people coming in my grave to say good bye for the last time.
Then my husband said; "Please put wood not stone in my grave then I will feel warmer ..." Sniff sniff ...
I will not see the tradition for my community's funeral. With the shower (full of jasmine and roses), with the one sheet white cloth, with the only one wood and the roll soil (together with the prayer) ...
Only God knows why and how it will be ...

Oh yee, I found in the newspaper that we have the broker or agent for exclusive cemetry. We can say, it might be a good business in Indonesia (especially for rich people who are willing to really rest in peace and luxurious). Mount Carmel have the exhibition in Mall Ciputra at 29th December to 9th January. They explore the 100 ha grave in Kawengen and Mluweh village, Ungaran in Semarang regency. It's like Beverly Hills with a beautiful panorama, inovative design, law right, 24 hours security, krematorium and dust house, 24 hours marketing service, 1700 lot space and many more. But of course it's like the proverb in Indonesia; "ada uang ada barang" (if you have many you get things you want". For common people in Indonesia the prices are crazily hang the pocket. For single costs Rp 8.000.000, double grave Rp 16.000.0000, double delux Rp 21.000.000, double special Rp 42.000.000, family Rp 95.000.000 and super family Rp 375.000.000. The difference is only the size of the grave. For example Royal family will have 24x36 meter square. This will load 18 people in. The marketing target itself are investor (for investment), relocation (moving from another grave) and on the day's request. It's a fantastic rate that 50 lot already booked and will start to burry dead people in March 2007.

Berkunjung ke makam Jerman dan Indonesia, jadi tahu bedanya. Makam di Jerman lebih rapi. Kontraknya 20 tahunan. Mau dibakar atau dikubur (kubur tunggal atau bersama keluarga), harganya beda. Bagaimana di Indonesia. Kalau TPU di daerah tempat tinggal orang tua, banyak yang tidak terawat, terkesan angker. Coba bandingkan dengan TPU Belanda di Kalibanteng yang bersih dan rapi. Ini contoh yang kami lihat di Jerman, super rapi dan indah. Ada bunga, bebatuan dan nisan yang cantik.

Bakso

My husband was so lovely. He cooked Bakso (typical Indonesian soup with round meat and noodle). My question was, "What meat is it?" Ohhh ... a little bit tiring since no guaranty here :)
From the mince meat, he made a roll with his big hand and put some sup from the Goose meat and Indonesian instant noodle in. Hmmm yammy.
In my country I can eat everywhere in 'warung' with only Rp 3.500 or 0.30 Euro. Oh oh ... Bakso Marem in front of the Mosque, Bakso behind Matahari next to Pak Kawit or the Bakso Pak Kumis in Matahari department store. Lekker!
So, I'm lucky he likes to cook for me as his kindness which will not be happened manytimes to Indonesian couple in my country. Wife must cook! She has to be the friend of the kitchen. That's our tradition or centuries. No matter how high your education is, how beautiful you are, how independent you are, how sexy you are ... in our community we call women should be with 3 M; Manak (have kids), Macak (dress up), masak (cook)! Hey, it's no big deal ... I'm in pleasure to do that.

Bakso adalah makanan kesukaan saya dan sebagian besar orang Indonesia. Itulah sebabnya, suami saya senang membuatnya di rumah untuk saya. Saya biasa menganjurkannya memakai daging giling sapi, dicampur kanji dan air es. Daging harus halus sekali. Bumbunya bawang merah, bawang putih, merica dan garam.

Saya menemukan kartu ucapan saat menikah di Jerman. Mulai dari keluarga Tessendorf, mertua, keluarga Henkel, keluarga Wagner dan lainnya. Agak berbeda dengan waktu menikah di Indonesia yang ramai dan meriah, pernikahan di Jerman agak khusus. Hanya keluarga dekat saja yang diundang. Masih ada tradisi seperti jaman dahulu ketika pengantin dihadiahi barang-barang kebutuhan berumah tangga. Saya dapat jarum dan kawan-kawan. Termasuk, amplop.

MY B Day

und war in 1.1.1976 geboren dann bin ich 31 Jahre alt.
Ich komme aus Indonesien aber jetzt wohne ich in Deutchland.
Ich habe kein beruf (nur Hausfrau). Das war eine schöne Zeiten als Radio Moderatorin und Lehrerin für viele Jahre in mein Heimat.

The biggest Christmas gift
That's papa's bicycle for Kelvin. He said the mix orange and blue in it is the best.
Oma covered it was like an elephant he said but Kelvin said was like a Pony!
He could not wait to open the cloth and see what is inside.
Simsalabim! He was happy to have it and try it immediately with the minus ten degree.
The Christmas without snow but still cold.
We gave gifts to friends who forgot us already.

Papa got Baden&Dusche gel set, toothbrush, ballpen, hemd and wein. Mama got Sony Cybershot 7,2 Megapixel in red color&pink pocket and chocolate. Chayenne got winter muse&syal in Lila's, orange strictjacket, toys and a doll. Opa got schlafanzug&hemd. Kelvin got bicycle, toys, books, atlas&laptop. Oma got a voucher!

White christmas la la la la la la ... it's not anymore ... (because no snow)

Masih ingat natal Kelvin. Hadiahnya, sebuah sepeda. Ketika dibungkus kain sprei, dia bilang "Pferd" kuda. Padahal itu adalah sebuah sepeda. Lalu dia menjerit, "Fahlad" maksudnya Fahrrad, sebutan untuk sepeda di Jerman. Suami menghadiahkan kamera warna merah, Sonny. Hari yang menyenangkan meski tanpa salju putih.

Sadaya mbekta jajan kaliyan dhaharan sarta minuman khas saking nagarinipun piyambak.

Soto Mie kaliyan krupuk saking Indonesia, Gulash saking Jerman, sayur terong saking Rusia, salat saking Polandia, wine saking Thailand lan sapanungggalipun

Haha ... Sakwijining wanita saking Thailand kala mben matur menawi boten pareng paring warna rekmanipun amargi boten saged sholat.

Nanging dinten punika benten. Lho kok pirang nggih?

Tiyang punika gadah ide saking garwanipun ingkang sampun sepuh. Tikel ping kalih! Walah! Piyambakipun inggih boten purun gadah putra, mundhak boten saged tur dunia mungelipun. Lha mangkeh menawi sepuh kaliyan sinten? We lahhh ... Boten rekaos wonten donya, sadaya dipun tandangi ingkang garwa. Mugi - mugi boten jambu mete, Jeng.

Hari lebaran bersama teman-teman dari berbagai negara dan macam-macam agama. Senang, meski berada di Jerman dan jauh dari Indonesia yang notabene kental suasana hari rayanya, masih juga ada kebahagiaan merayakannya.

Snowww

My first snow in summer was in Zugspitze, in July 2005.
My first really snow was falling to our car was in May 2006,
it was somewhere on the way out from Rietheim to then next town.
My first trully snow in front of our house in Rietheim was in 4th November 2006.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Winter comes!
Today was so cold, minus 5 in the morning and plus 1 in the mid day.
God, what about if I will be crashed by minus 20 to 30?

Freezing in the Busstelle or Ringzugstelle for few minutes in that temperature is so challenging.
That's why my sweetest man said I should reach the SIM or driving liscence here.

Pengalaman melihat salju yang tinggi dan tebal, di Zugspitze tahun 2005. Lalu pada tahun 2006, salju menghujani mobil kami. Musim dingin, temperaturnya rendah. Jaketnya harus tebal. Dobel-dobel. Minus 1-27 pernah saya alami. Kangen dengan Indonesia yang selalu hangat, murah matahari.

Kalaya 's B Day

Kanlaya, teman saya dari Thailand. Orangnya baik, rambutnya hitam sekali. Indah. Ulang tahunnya berbarengan dengan tetangga depan rumah, dari Amerika. Tanggalnya 19 Desember. Karena dia suka warna kuning, dia kami hadiahi anting dan kalung.

Nurnberg

Weihnachtmarkt in Nurnberg ... we were there.
First of all, my man drove less than 3 hours in Autobahn. As usual, we enjoyed 200-220km/hour.
Ya ya ya ... Bernd Michael Stegmann was driving while I was cutting my hair and kids were playing.
Tom Tom with Lisa as the speaker led the travel ... "gerade aus ... recht up ... links up ... Mr. Bernd please charge my battery immediately ..."
Oh oh ... nice but tiring travel to reach the hotel and the market.
My husband said that approximately 2 million people expected to visit the oldest Weihnachtmarkt
Our Holiday Inn is just few minutes to the Cabaret with those sexy girls ... Oh yeeeeeee

The travel cost expensive but that was my man wish, to show me his old memory ... We bought Lebkuchen, bananenschocolade, Sosis, Traube, Dragonfruit, ananas and rode the Museum Kusche. It was like 'kereta kencana' with a biggggg horse couple.

Kami berkunjung ke kota Nürnberg. Ada sebuah pasar natal di sana. Paling tidak 2-3 jam baru sampai sana. Kami menginap di hotel Holiday in, yang ternyata hanya sekian langkah menuju kawasan prostitusi. Kota ini sangat indah, tua terawat sejarahnya. Kue Lebkuchen sangatlah terkenal, selain sosis kecil putih yang kondang dan jadi kesukaan anak-anak kami.

The Poison Named DRUGS
Drugs are very important when people really needed it
but when they misused it, caused danger - death - any unexpected risk.
That's my opinion.
I know it could be wrong as I only got drug when I had my operation or when I gave a birth,
otherwise I could be suffer when the team cut my skin and took something out with full of blood.
Ya ya ... at the time ... I felt like in a peaceful paradise. So cold and cool!
You can call me an old fashion woman, buttt I am still proud of that. I'm CLEAN.
At least when one day my kids grow as young people and willing to try it,
I can say extremerly scream; NO, and they will not say, " ... but you also used it in your young time, why not us?"

Then I can tell them a story of ALDA, the "AKU TAK BIASA" singer. She gained 200.000 copies. She was featuring CODE RED with "WE CAN MAKE IT". It was on her 15th. Fantastic.
She was booming. But sad, she died in 12th December 2006 because of over dosis, DRUGS!
She is everything; beautiful, sexy, famous, rich, idol, what else she needs?
Perhaps she had everything too much then she can not handle it then ...

Human being makes mistakes but did she do it intentionly?
She run away from her show with Dian Pisesa as the promotor. Later the lady was bankrupt. Not good.

Oh, Alda was born in Bogor, 23 November 1982 . The woman had a good reputation as the best female singer at AMI award ( Anugerah Musik Indonesia 1998) . She represented Indonesia at 99 Shanghai Asia Music Festival, in International Gymnasium. Dea Mirella stepped her ahead and the first winner was from Malaysia Siti Nurhaliza. She took apart also in one sinetron Kesucian Prasasti. Amazing, huh?

In another hand, as usual ... gossip went around artist's world. Had she affair with one producer and made a baby with? Or did she use drugs? No body knows until finally ... she died ... OD in the Hotel Grand Menteng, Matraman, Jakarta Timur! Astaghfirullah ...

Polygami

It's a very famous topic discussed in Indonesia recently.
I still remember the owner of Wong Solo Chicken Restaurant,
he is absolutely reach, not too bad and healthy. He has (I guess) 7 or 9 wifes.
Amazing how he's proud of himself doing polygami since he has been doing for many years and everything is under control.
The oldest wife said OK, when he wanted to marry the second one and so on ... until he has maaaaaaany wifes and kids.
Wait a minute!
That's his right to do so when all wifes agree and the religion allows this matter with some reason covered as it written. My wish that this will not be a bullet to shoot the same believers.
He share 7 days for each wife each room. Seemingly, pretty tiring.
He share his treasure for each wife. Looks like, he has neverending budget.
He also loves all kids. Means he has a long root later on and must be a patient daddy.
But do you know exactly what those wifes and kids wish deep in their heart?
Do they except it?

Another story again crushed my beloved country.
The most favorite Religious man, Aa" Gymnastiar married again!
Then all his fans and fanatic listeners to him complaint, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Before, he amazed everyone how he loved tenderly only his wife who gives him 7 kids.
Before, he said the second woman he married before she was only his partner at organization.
Before, he had an idea to be the match maker for her.
Before, no body thought he'll matched himself for her.
Even if he said Teh Nini, the first wife is fine with this and can take it (but why her face is not so sparkling like it used to be?),
Why she doesn't be friendly to the younger one in front of the public?
He opens his hair without the belt andddd ... look younger butttt the first wife looks older than before. God! Many other cases are running around.
I said ... hey ... hey ... what's going on?

In one yahoogroup I read, how some men defence that this Polygami system save many women who want to marry but can not find any partner as there is no balance number between men and women in this universe.
Hey, don't worry. Married in some countries is not so complicated anymore, that man should marry only woman and vice versa. Take a look at Philippines and Germany (also other countries) where lesbian and homo can marry with and when they wish to have kids, just do adption and finish!
Moreover, they defence that this also avoid any violence to women who have love affair with married man and only be an object of sexual behavior.
Some people said OK, while the reason is to save widow from a bad name.

Kinderbetreuung
Kinderbetreuung ist ein program fur baby zur AWO (Waaghaugstr. Tuttlingen), weil die Eltern mussen Deutsch lernen.
Baby sind oben und Eltern sind unten. Perfekt! (Schluck!!!)
Chayenne hat naturlich mehr Freunde und Freundin; Denise aus Thailand und andere aus Kazachstan, Turkey, Russland und so weiter.
Sie haben spazieren gehen, essen und trinken zusammen, spielen, pipi und pupu machen und denn ... weinen.
Drei Frau aus Deutschland machen alles in das kinderbetreungzimmer.
Ho ho ... kostenlos und wunderbar!
Aber jetzt, ist Chayenne krank. Sie hat infektion mit Schnupfen und Husten.

Ich denke, dass der kinderbetreuung ist sehr gut fur sie. Dannach, lernen sie fruher und besser.

Kelvin won the "Mallwettbewerb Fisch&Reptil Messe 2006"
"Hunny, look at this ..." uttered my Hunny.
"Ya ... what's going on?" I came to him in the kitchen. Sooner, he read the paper from Messe Sindelfingen GmbH, Germany.
"This is amazing! This is the very first time for him. Kelvin got the second place for drawing competition in group 5 - 8 years old. You know what he got? A familien ticket to Wilhelma zoo in Stuttgart!"
"Cool! Last time you also got one free ticket to Sea Life after complaining to them ... where is it? I think somewhere down our bed with the drobe".
Few hours later, Kelvin came from Ballet course and shopping with Oma and Opa.
"Mama ..." he ran from the steps making noise as usual. Oh ...
"Ya ... come, we have something for you. You won the drawing competition ..."
"Haaa??? Really? Wow!!! Where is it ... where is it?"
"On the dinning table in the kitchen ... but bring it back to me ya ... we need to keep it, not that you will loose it". He came up stairs to show Oma. Then, he came again.
"Mama, again what was the name of the place?"
"Sindelfingen ... Sindelfingen ..." he ran upstairs and yelled; Sindelfingen .... Sindelfingen ... Sindelfingen.
"Oma, the name is Sindelfingen ..." Oh, ye ... funny. He came again and said;
"Mama, take a picture of me and then you write about this in a newspaper in Indonesia"
"Haha ... OK"
"You know why I won?"
"Because I adviced you to make it full at the time"
"No, because I colored it all with brown, while the others had only blue and white as the background"
"No no ... this is because the others are not really good to explore their imagination with drawing and coloring. Yours was full and colorful. Good job!"

Above all, we as a new Stegmann family learnt a lot;
1.Papa, don't touch his work! He can be more independent and get selfconfident when he knows he can do himself better.
2.Cheating is not always good idea whatever the reason is.
3.Being patient is much more important than the poison named selfish itself. Papa said mama did it with Chayenne.
4.Listening was easy, huh?;"You can walk around then you will not boring anymore while waiting his work till done ...".
5.Family should be together hand in hand in goodness and badness

Bowling

It was my very first time to play bowling. My husband said, I should come along while other college would come alone.
OK, it was nice to learn something new, meet new people and get new atmosphere.

Niko Day

Nikolaus day is on 6th December. Edith, my Lehrerin at AWO told me regarding these tradition. She said this tradition start at 1st to 24th December then reach the big 25th, Christmast day. For Deutschen, dass ist wichtig. Especially for kinder.
Well, some points I learnt from these. Kids they will get Advent calender with full of chocolate and toys in, shocks and other accecories around the house, a list about what they wish to get (toys, books, cloths, money?) ... Kelvin got 6 Advent calender, Mama and Chayenne share one.
In the 5th, Kelvin's uncle gave him those stuffs. It was a stupid question to my Hunny, "Why Chayenne did not get anything ..?". Oma and Opa set up the lip - lop lamp with Weihnahmann in front of the door. My hunny bought the top gift of the house, a big drawing set and chocholate for sure.
In the 6th, Kelvin and Chayenne got a lot of chocolate from Oma and Papa ... oh toys also for Kelvin and cloths for Chayenne.
Oh ya ... in the red shocks (but Papa's shock was with blue and grey strips...), we can find a lot of things; Wallnuss, peanuts, chocholates, bread, orange ...

As much we look forward to the holidays as a time of peace, love, joy, and family gathering, we all know that the holidays can create a lot of stress and tension in relationships. Couples who share the same faith tradition can disagree over where to spend the holidays, and even fight about whose family traditions are more worthy of their time and energy.

But being part of a relationship where there are different religious beliefs can make the holidays even tougher. My hunch is that explaining to your Jewish boyfriend the virgin birth will be easier than explaining to him why a senile great-aunt (like the one in my family) insists upon coming down to family dinner dressed like Mrs. Santa Claus.

The best way to prepare a stranger to meet your family during the holidays is to sit down and share with him some stories about your family, explaining some of your religious beliefs and traditions, and giving him an idea what he can expect when he meets your folks. Getting him to share a few tales of his own family's traditions might help give you an idea what a "normal" holiday gathering looks like in his family.

Don't hesitate to let folks in your family know beforehand about your boyfriend's religious background. Although you can't always be sure that family members will be on their best behavior when company is around, you can hope that by sharing his religious identity, you've nudged them enough to think twice before making any off-color remarks about people (or traditions) different from their own. As an added step, you may try including one of your boyfriend's favorite holiday dishes in the meal with your family. That way, you introduce your family to his tradition, signaling both to them and to him your effort to make him feel comfortable and welcome in your family setting.

Regardless, however, don't feel pressured into thinking that it's your task to iron out all the differences between Judaism and Christianity this holiday season. You can't. Take it from me, the holidays are not the time to try to convert folks to other beliefs. Just be happy if you can accomplish the simple task of introducing all these people that you love to one another. You will soon learn that love does not conquer all when it comes to meeting families, blending cultures and religions, and trying to get through the holiday season with family members.

Communication between the two of you, and a sense of humor, will go a long way in helping everyone get through the holidays with a minimum amount of insult, offense, and bruised feelings.

First of all, I met her in France in 2004. It was the time I joined as the advisory team of Asia Europe Exchange sponsored by ASEF.

Day by day, she took film from us for CCIVS UNESCO documentary film from morning to night and from introductory until evaluation meetings. Oh, I looked stupid at the time when a German asked me a question but I could not understand his accent. She shooted me! Ha ha!

At the end, she bought IIWC NVDA ILSB book part I "I Can Run". She asked my signatured and said that will be a great memory for her.

My Thesis

Abstract: Uncle JC’s Happy Hour is an English program on Smart FM Jakarta. The community often uses code – switching during the interactive talk. Marasigan (1983: 54-119) seeks answers of variety of code switching and code mixing in Metropolitan Manila. Her finding is that there are 7 conversational and written functions which are influenced by many factors such as participants. This thesis’ aims are (1) What conversational function of code switching did occur in Uncle JC’s Happy Hour? (2) What factors accounted for the code switching on the Uncle JC’s Happy Hour. The descriptive qualitative research is recorded, transcribed, identified, categorized and reduced. Finally, the classification falls into 6 conversational functions, while factors such as participants, topics, setting, attitudes, values and culture, and personal emotions accounted for switching code at Uncle JC’s Happy Hour. The result of the analysis also shows that 10 languages are used by hosts and callers in switching codes.

Ich bin Gana und komme aus Indonesien. Habe zwei kinder und susse Ehemann, bin ich glucklich.

Sekadar renungan buat insan yang bergelar wanita. Ketahuilah betapa istimewanya menjadi wanita. Betapa bertuahnya menjadi wanita. Bersyukurlah karena menjadi wanita.

Istimewanya Wanita :

Doa wanita lebih makbul daripada lelaki kerana sifat penyayang yang lebih kuat daripada lelaki. Ketika ditanya kepada Rasulullah S.A.W. akan hal tersebut, jawab baginda: "Ibu lebih penyayang daripada bapak dan doa orang yang penyayang tidak akan sia-sia."
Wanita yang solehah (baik) itu lebih baik daripada 70 orang lelaki yang soleh.
Barang siapa yang menggembirakan anak perempuannya, darjatnya seumpama orang yang sentiasa menangis kerana takutkan Allah S.W.T. dan orang yang takutkan Allah S.W.T. akan diharamkan api neraka ke atas tubuhnya.
Barang siapa yang membawa hadiah (barang makanan dari pasar ke rumah) lalu diberikan kepada keluarganya, maka pahalanya seperti bersedekah. Hendaklah mendahulukan anak perempuan daripada anak lelaki. Maka barang siapa yang menyukakan anak perempuan seolah-olah dia memerdekakan anak Nabi Ismail A.S.
Wanita yang tinggal bersama anak-anaknya akan tinggal bersama aku (Rasulullah S.A.W.) di dalam syurga.
Barang siapa mempunyai tiga anak perempuan atau tiga saudara perempuan atau dua anak perempuan atau dua saudara perempuan, lalu dia bersikap ihsan dalam pergaulan dengan mereka dan mendidik mereka dengan penuh rasa takwa serta bertanggungjawab, maka baginya adalah syurga.
Daripada Aisyah r.a. "Barang siapa yang diuji dengan se Suatu daripada anak-anak perempuannya, lalu dia berbuat baik kepada mereka, maka mereka akan menjadi penghalang baginya daripada api neraka.
Syurga itu di bawah telapak kaki ibu.
Apabila memanggil akan engkau dua orang ibu bapamu, maka jawablah panggilan ibumu dahulu.
Wanita yang taat berkhidmat kepada suaminya akan tertutup pintu-pintu neraka dan terbuka pintu-pintu syurga. Masuklah dari mana-mana pintu yang dia kehendaki dengan tidak dihisab.
Wanita yang taat akan suaminya, semua ikan-ikan di laut, burung di udara, malaikat di langit, matahari dan bulan, semuanya beristighfar baginya selama mana dia taat kepada suaminya dan direkannya (serta menjaga sembahyang dan puasanya).
Aisyah r.a. berkata "Aku bertanya kepada Rasulullah S.A.W., siapakah yang lebih besar haknya terhadap wanita? Jawab baginda, "Suaminya." "Siapa pula berhak terhadap lelaki?" Jawab Rasulullah S.A.W. Ibunya."
Perempuan apabila sembahyang lima waktu, puasa bulan Ramadan, memelihara kehormatannya serta taat akan suaminya, masuklah dia dari pintu syurga mana sahaja yang dia kehendaki.
Tiap perempuan yang menolong suaminya dalam urusan agama, maka Allah S.W.T. memasukkan dia ke dalam syurga lebih dahulu daripada suaminya (10,000 tahun).
Apabila seseorang perempuan mengandung janin dalam rahimnya, maka beristighfarlah para malaikat untuknya. Allah S.W.T. mencatatkan baginya setiap hari dengan 1,000 kebaikan dan menghapuskan darinya 1,000 kejahatan.
Apabila seseorang perempuan mulai sakit hendak bersalin, maka Allah S.W.T. mencatatkan baginya pahala orang yang berjihad pada jalan Allah S.W.T.
Apabila seseorang perempuan melahirkan anak, keluarlah dia daripada dosa-dosa seperti keadaan ibunya melahirkannya.
Apabila telah lahir (anak) lalu disusui, maka bagi ibu itu setiap satu tegukan daripada susunya diberi satu kebajikan.
Apabila semalaman (ibu) tidak tidur dan memelihara anaknya yang sakit, maka Allah S.W.T. memberinya pahala seperti memerdekakan 70 orang hamba dengan ikhlas untuk membela agama Allah S.W.T.
Seorang wanita solehah adalah lebih baik daripada 70 orang wali.
Seorang wanita yang jahat adalah lebih buruk dari pada 1,000 lelaki yang jahat.
2 rakaat solat dari wanita yang hamil adalah lebih baik daripada 80 rakaat solat wanita yang tidak hamil.
Wanita yang memberi minum susu kepada anaknya daripada badannya (susu badan) akan dapat satu pahala dari pada tiap-tiap titik susu yang diberikannya.
Wanita yang melayani dengan baik suami yang pulang ke rumah di dalam keadaan letih akan mendapat pahala jihad.
Wanita yang melihat suaminya dengan kasih sayang dan suami yang melihat isterinya dengan kasih sayang akan dipandang Allah dengan penuh rahmat.
Wanita yang menyebabkan suaminya keluar dan berjuang ke jalan Allah dan kemudian menjaga adab rumah tangganya akan masuk syurga 500 tahun lebih awal daripada suaminya, akan menjadi ketua 70,000 malaikat dan bidadari dan wanita itu akan dimandikan di dalam syurga, dan menunggu suaminya dengan menunggang kuda yang dibuat daripada yakut.
Wanita yang tidak cukup tidur pada malam hari kerana menjaga anak yang sakit akan diampunkan oleh Allah akan seluruh dosanya dan bila dia hiburkan hati anaknya Allah memberi 12 tahun pahala ibadat.
Wanita yang memerah susu binatang dengan "bismillah" akan didoakan oleh binatang itu dengan doa keberkatan.
Wanita yang menguli tepung gandum dengan "bismillah", Allah akan berkatkan rezekinya.
Wanita yang menyapu lantai dengan berzikir akan mendapat pahala seperti meyapu lantai di baitullah.
Wanita yang hamil akan dapat pahala berpuasa pada siang hari.
Wanita yang hamil akan dapat pahala beribadat pada malam hari.
Wanita yang bersalin akan mendapat pahala 70 tahun solat dan puasa dan setiap kesakitan pada satu uratnya Allah mengurniakan satu pahala haji.
Sekiranya wanita mati dalam masa 40 hari selepas bersalin, dia akan dikira sebagai mati syahid.
Jika wanita melayani suami tanpa khianat akan mendapat pahala 12 tahun solat.
Jika wanita menyusui anaknya sampai cukup tempo(2½ thn), maka malaikat-malaikat dilangit akan khabarkan berita bahwa syurga wajib baginya.
Jika wanita memberi susu badannya kepada anaknya yang menangis, Allah akan memberi pahala satu tahun solat dan puasa.
Jika wanita memicit/mijat suami tanpa disuruh akan mendapat pahala 7 tola emas dan jika wanita memicit suami bila disuruh akan mendapat pahala 7 tola perak.
Wanita yang meninggal dunia dengan keredhaan suaminya akan memasuki syurga.
Jika suami mengajarkan isterinya satu masalah akan mendapat pahala 80 tahun ibadat.
Semua orang akan dipanggil untuk melihat wajah Allah di akhirat, tetapi Allah akan datang sendiri kepada wanita yang memberati auratnya yaitu memakai purdah di dunia ini dengan istiqamah.

Started to step on broadcasting world in 1996.
Jatayu FM in Semarang was my very first radio to work with.
Marvelous. So many fans and songs were coloring my hard days for working and studying at IKIP PGRI Semarang.
It was on 11th floor of Matahari dept. store in Semarang.
Pretty high, but sometimes scary with the ghost stories.

I jumped into the bigger radio called Smart FM, the spirit of Indonesia.
I can say, the spirit of me.
Where I could talk face to face with the first lady of Central Java Province (Bu Mardiyanto, such a simple figure I love)
I met Andre Wongso, the maestro! We were in the same airport to Hongkong! Nepal was my destiny. He had the vacation in another side.
I talked to Ken Marasuchi who said," Hey, Gana Pancawijaya do you still Pancawijaya? ..."
I was flattered with Yance, who loved to hear my voice. He said,"Full of pride!"
Again flattered with Pak Kuncoro who is always in some radios and local TV, who said,"I'm one of your fans"

To me, been a radio moderator (term from my husband) was fantastic and like a legend to my life.
Which I can tell to my kids longer than ever. Ten years was over. Wish to have that time again in the future when my kids are becoming youth. Hmmm ...

Graduated from a State Senior High School in Semarang called SMA 2 made me was thinking

“What’s next?”

I knew, Open University!

My mum said, “No! You’ll not finish it. It’s not a common university, too much independency there …”

I knew, One Year Degree from Polytechnic of Diponegoro University.

Been a student of secretary department taught me how to type quicker, how to dress up like a woman, how to manage file and men in the office J

My mum knew, Institute of Teaching and Learning PGRI Semarang! Same like hers.

Oh, OK. Then finished in 4 years, leaved all 200 friends of mine behind. I was not really the best, only the third from all senior of English department graduates. That’s fine.

< Activities >

A) TNW (Training & Networking Workcamp)

This is held every two years together with General Assembly of NVDA. About 20 leaders of NGOs from 10-12 countries participate. It aims;

a) “New” NGOs can start international work camps in their countries afterwards, b) Experienced NGOs (NVDA members) can develop their projects and management and c) Many common actions in Asia/ Pacific in various areas can be created.

* What are international workcamps?

International voluntary projects where youth volunteers from all over the world work and live together (usually for 2-3 weeks) with local people.

· Projects are based on local needs like planting trees, playing with kids, running festivals, etc.

· It started in France in 1920 and 2,700 projects in 94 countries were organized in 2004 by NGOs most of that are affiliated in CCIVS UNESCO.

B) Starting Work camps in New Countries

1) China was started by TNW. ACYF hosted in 97.

2) Cambodia was started by KYDO in 98.

3) Thailand was started by Greenway in 99.

4) Indonesia was started by IIWC in 99.

5) Vietnam was started by TNW. VYF hosted in 00.

6) Mongolia was started by MCE in 00.

7) Fiji was started by FIVE in 02.

8) Philippine was started by YES in 03.

9) Malaysia was started by YSM in 04.

C) Common Actions of NVDA

C1: Greening Asia -for forest protection-

a) Over 40 International/ 30 weekend workcamps

are organized every year to protect forests with

over 500 international and 5,000 local volunteers.

b) Over 1,500 Green Foster Parents in Japan to

have grown the seeds of native trees for 2 years.

c) Greening Asia Fund by donations and fund raising

have been collected and supported the forest

workcamps in Mongolia and Fiji since 2002.

d) Drawing contests are organized in Indonesia for

4 times and once in Japan with over 400 kids.

C2: Bracelet Project -against kids prostitution-

a) Over 2,000 Bracelets were made in 01-04 by hundreds of volunteers and local people in

schools and workcamps in 5 countries (Japan,

Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia and Fiji).

b) The bracelets have been sold in the festivals,

seminars, fair trade shops, etc. mainly in Japan.

c) The sales are used to support NGO projects to

reduce children prostitution in Asia. Cambodian

NGO has been supported since 2003.

* Education programs are done at a) and b).

C3: International Love Story Books-

International Love Story Books entitled “I can run” part 1 and 2 have been published by IIWC and distributed to the whole members.

The second version of compilation stories will be launched soon on December.

C4: Pen Friend Network-

This action was once supposed to be bilateral action between IIWC and MCE but somehow changed into IIWC and NICE. Now, it is hoped that the action can include the volunteers from all members. The main aim is to tighten friendship among volunteers.

C5: Sister NGOs-

It is to promote the links and cooperation among similar types of NGOs through the volunteers and member NGOs that have much potential resources/ networks in various fields. For example,

a) Kids of orphanages in Mongolia, Japan and Indonesia have corresponded letters, made picture books together, introducing each country since 2002.

b) Kids of elementary schools in Bangladesh and Japan have made the handmade gifts for each other and introduce each cultures since 2003.

We could do it also for farms, festivals, etc.

Other actions proposed for 2004-2005

a) Solid Waste Management with local people

b) Establishment of NVDA Model Organic Farm

c) Promoting Organic Farm Stay Programs

d) Organizing “No Water Day” in workcamps, etc.

e) Creating Water Fund to support water projects

f) Promotion to use acryl sponges to wash dishes

g) Skill development projects for street children

If you live in countries/ areas where there are no workcamp organizations (i.e., Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand, Brunei), you can apply for workcamps

all over the world through NVDA secretariat!

The example of the projects are;

* Construction of a school class room in Kenya

* Teaching English in an evening school of Thailand

* Protecting sea turtles in the beach of Mexico

* Helping homeless people in USA

* Playing with refugee kids in Germany (below)

“IIWC is the first work camp organization in Indonesia, welcome and watch out to be CRAZIER with us …”

IIWC of IPPA
IIWC of IPPA is the acronym of Indonesia International Work Camp of Indonesia Planned Parenthood Association. Informally, IIWC of IPPA was formed in September 1999, when PKBI (IPPA) held the first work camp in Mijen, Semarang Residence incorporate with NICE, the biggest work camp organization in Japan. Anyway, Mr. Subiyono was really succeeded introducing us to NICE as well, till we have a special relationship with them.

Seeing the success and positive result of the first work camp, NICE suggested IPPA to form a work camp organization. It was followed by an invitation for NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia) meeting in Hanoi Vietnam at 9 – 22 January 2000. This meeting discussed about how to run a work camp and everything about it. The meeting was exactly going in the same time with the second general assembly of NVDA, PKBI become a member as IIWC of Indonesia

IIWC of IPPA organizes International Camps at least five times a year in around February-March and August-September. Since 1999, IIWC of IPPA held 100 international camps

The ex-participants of IIWC’ s camps came from some islands in Indonesia and foreigners from many countries (Japan, Slovakia, Greece, France, England, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Korea, United States of America, Czech Republic, Italy, Netherlands, etc).

IIWC of IPPA not only host the International Participants but we also send Indonesian volunteers abroad, especially by grant. So far, we had sent our volunteers to Vietnam, Japan, Philippines, France, Germany, Finland, Korea, UK, Italy, Denmark, Turkey and Malaysia joined International/regional meeting, work camp, workshop and training.

Nepal

Here is my article in SUARA MERDEKA newspaper. It was from my experience during general assembly and training&networking of Network for Voluntary Development in Asia. For me, Nepal was wonderful. We stayed in the top of the mountain for almost 2 weeks where we could not eat beef as Hindust are there, where we had a chance to ride elephant and slept above sleeping bag. We found the modern toilet with traditional flush. When I seated on it was like an earthquake ... ha ha ... Oh and it was so cold there. I covered all my body except my face. I also spent the night in the traditional house was like in primitive age. Great. So dark and smell pig and sheeps. Dusts were also flying on the sky moving from the street as the trucks were here and there. Oh yeah ... sitting on the top of the truck was my best experience until I could not see as the dust knocked my eyes. Oi oi ...

Nepal Yang Menantang Petualang

NEPAL sering dikenal sebagai museum alam terbesar di dunia. Negara tersebut memang kaya dengan keunikan biodiversitas, posisi geografis, dan variasi latitudinalnya. Sementara, variasi hutan alaminya menjadikan Nepal sebagai wilayah dengan variasi ekosistem yang mengagumkan: jajaran gunung tertinggi di bumi, hutan tropis lebat dengan ragam kehidupan liarnya, bukit-bukit hijau, lembahyang membeku dan sungai-sungai yang membentang luas. Ke wilayah seperti itulah saya datang untuk sebuah urusan. Di bandara Tribhuvan Airport setelah penerbangan panjang dari Indonesia, transit di Singapura dan Thailand, Anda akan berbaris rapi di antara para pendaki dan pelancong lengkap dengan back-pack mereka.

Urusan visa memang tak begitu memusingkan di negara tersebut. Meskipun begitu, saya harus rela duduk tepekur dengan lutut tertekuk menunggu antrean yang panjangnya bak kereta api. Tak apalah, untuk urusan sekitar 15 menit itu harus dijalani berjam-jam antre demi sebuah cap pengetok pintu izin masuk negeri kerajaan itu. Visa di sana berlaku sebagai single entry sebulan, yang biayanya 25 dolar AS. Beberapa pertanyaan sederhana biasanya ditanyakan staf imigrasi. Apa tujuannya? Dengan siapa?

Kedatangan saya kali itu bukan semata-mata pelesir, tetapi untuk tujuan sosial tertentu. Yakni, membangun sebuah water tank bersama relawan dan penduduk lokal Bhorle di Distrik Chitwan yang sering kekeringan di musim kemarau. Tapi bagi staf imigrasi, saya tetaplah seorang adalah turis.

Biasanya kita harus pusing dan deg-degan dengan birokrasi kedutaan di Jakarta yang bisa berminggu-minggu untuk minta izin tinggal kurang dari sebulan. Sudah begitu, sering pula ditolak untuk beberapa alasan tertentu. Nepal memang membuka diri lebar-lebar untuk menjual aset budaya dan wisata demi rakyatnya yang tergolong masih miskin.

Sebelum keluar pintu bandara, saya menukar dolar dengan mata uang Nepal secukupnya untuk jaga-jaga. Perlu diingat untuk tidak lupa meminta receipt atau kuitansi penukaran karena pada akhirnya nanti uang rupee tidak bisa kita tukar dengan mata uang apa pun dan di mana pun, kecuali dengan bank atau money changer di Nepal. Itu pun dengan menunjukkan tanda penukaran tersebut. Jika tidak, payahlah kalau kita ingin menukarkannya nanti. Kabarnya ini menghindari money laundering atau pencucian uang. Di luar itu, ada sedikit masalah untuk memahami uang mereka, kecuali tulisan angkanya. Pecahan uang kertas Nepal adalah 1.000, 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 , 2 dan 1, plus beberapa jenis uang logam.

Tak seorang pun menjemput saya di bandara. Sedih juga. Biasanya, relawan yang datang ke Indonesia akan mendapat sambutan hangat, misalnya dijemput di bandara. Barangkali bukan hari baik buat saya. Dalam email sebelumnya panitia, Prakash dari NIFC, organisasi lokal yang mengundang saya, mengatakan akan mengirim seseorang sebagai pemandu menuju camp site atau meeting point.

Olala, di mana dia? Saya baca semua kertas bertuliskan nama-nama penumpang yang harus dijemput di bandara kecil dan sederhana ini. Mungkin saya terlihat sebagai orang yang kebingungan sehingga mengundang aksi para sopir taksi mendatangi saya. Lalu, saya menelepon kantor organisasi lokal melalui wartel di sisi kanan pintu keluar. Sudarshan dari kantor itu bilang, sang penjemput sudah menunggu di bandara. Saya menghabiskan 40 rupee untuk jasa wartel. Lagi-lagi saya harus bolak-balik dari pintu keluar ke koridor luar.

Tiba-tiba seorang lelaki tinggi besar menyapa, "Are you Gana ? Lelaki itu, Pramod, ternyata adalah manajer tempat kami menginap di tempat pertemuan. Saya gembira tentu saja.Tadinya sudah sangat khawatir harus mencari lokasi pertemuan melalui jalan-jalan yang rada rawan di sekitar bandara. Menurut informasi yang saya peroleh, pemberontak Maois sering bentrok dengan petugas keamanan di wilayah sekitar bandara. Itu sebabnya beberapa teman dari Eropa tidak datang mengingat organisasi tidak mau memberi jaminan keamanan karena Nepal termasuk daerah rawan.

Beberapa menit kemudian, Pramod, saya, dan turis asal Perancis menuju Hotel Encounter di Tamel, Kathmandu. Ada beberapa kamar dengan rate berbeda dari 5-30 dolar AS per malam. Saya sekamar dengan relawan asal Australia, Thy.

Jembatan bantuan Denmark di Bhorle

BEGITU masuk kamar, saya sudah sangat ingin melihat panorama sekitar. Saya mencoba naik ke atap hotel. Di bawah, beberapa siswa SMA tampak sedang bergembira merayakan kelulusan. Salah seorang gadis lincah menari dengan baju India, merah menyala. Saya mencermati bangunan-bangunan di sekitar hotel. Penuh bebukitan. Agak mirip Kawasan Dieng.

Dingin mulai menyerang saat hari mulai gelap. Pramod mengajak berkeliling menikmati suasana sekitar kami menginap dan makan malam di sebuah resto mewah. Di situ, kami bisa menikmati musik dan nyanyian tradisional Nepal. Dua penyanyi beraksi.

Kami larut dalam musik dan ikut menari. Tarian kami semakin "heboh" ketika John, pelancong dari Amerika Serikat berdendang sembari bergerak-gerak meniru tarian penari asli. Aksinya mengundang tawa kami.

Mendadak dia menarik saya dari kursi. Saya agak ngantuk dan tak begitu berselera. Tapi alunan musik yang agak mirip dangdut itu mulai menggoda saya untuk beranjak dari posisi diam. Wah, badan kami mulai hangat setelah menggoyang-goyangkan badan beberapa saat.

Tak beberapa lama kemudian, makanan yang kami pesan telah siap di meja. hampir semua menu yang tersaji serba mengandung jahe, baik makanan maupun minuman. Tapi itu sangat bermanfaat bagi tubuh kami sehingga setelahnya bisa tidur pulas di gigilan udara sangat sangat dingin. Dinginnya bahkan seolah-olah tak bisa diusir dengan baju tidur berlapis-lapis plus selimut tebal. Apalagi, kamar di hotel kami tak ada mesin pemanasnya.

Keesokan harinya, selepas salat Subuh saya sempat termangu di keheningan pagi Kota Katmandu. Saya menyusuri Jalan Tamel yang menjadi pusat perbelanjaan, mirip Jalan Malioboro di Yogyakarta. Di situ tergelar beragam barang dan kebutuhan. Selain kain sari, dhalbat (nasi dan kari khas Nepal-Red), kaset, toko kelontong, dan suvenir buatan tangan khas Nepal, pengunjung yang ke situ pasti tergiur untuk menikmati Momo. Itu makanan tradisional asal Tibet yang di Jalan tamel itu dijual di warung pojok tepat di depan jalan besar. Daging kerbau gelindingan yang diramu dengan bawang dan bebumbuan lain khas Tibet membuat kami merasakan kepuasan tersendiri. Lezat dan khas.

Di pasar-pasar Nepal, seperti yang Anda jumpai misalnya di Pasar Johar, pembeli harus pintar-pintar menawar sebelum bertransaksi, kalau tidak ingin kemahalan. Sekadar contoh soal harga-harga barang di sana, kain sari berbahan sutra harganya 1.000 rupee per pasang, sedangkan yang berbahan katun berkisar 500-700 rupee. Boneka dewa dengan muka berbeda yang mirip marionette (golek dengan tali-temali untuk menggerakkannya) berharga 100-300 rupee, dompet kain 10 rupee. Begitu pula, berbagai topi pria khas Nepal yang sering kita lihat dipakai tokoh India Jawaharlal Nehru, tersedia dengan berbagai ukuran dan harga. Motifnya agak mirip dengan lurik Jateng tapi dengan warna yang lebih berani seperti tenun Makassar.

Di luar itu semua, betapa cantik dan romantisnya ibukota Kerajaan Nepal. Asal tahu saja bahwa letak geografis Nepal yang spektakuler kabarnya juga menjadi pemandangan budaya terkaya seantero jagad, meskipun harus diiringi kekhawatir karena hampir selalu ada pemeriksaan di titik-titik daerah tertentu. Identitas, tas, dan tak terkecuali tubuh digeledah dengan serius. Syukurlah, itu tak berlaku untuk orang asing dan hanya orang lokal yang mendapat perlakuan rutin yang sesekali menjengkelkan.

Cukup sering saya mendengar para petugas menginterogasi beberapa teman lokal kami dengan bahasa Nepal. Terdengar unik di telinga. Ya, bahasa itu merupakan keelokan lain di sana mengingat keragaman etnis dan subgrup di Nepal memiliki 70 bahasa dan dialek. Namun tak perlu khawatir jika Anda tidak menguasai bahasa Nepal. Sebab, beberapa generasi mudanya mulai mampu berbahasa Inggris. Jadi, bahasa tak lagi jadi kendala bagi siapa pun untuk menikmati perjalanan di Kerajaan Nepal yang agung.

Wilayahnya begitu eksotis dengan gunung-gunung yang memikat pandang. Sayangnya, isu mengenai aksi para pemberontak Maois ikut melesukan kondisi pariwisata Nepal. Walaupun begitu, turis atau pecinta alam atau pendaki gunung dari mancanegara masih begitu bergairah datang untuk mencoba menaklukkan Puncak Everest yang masyhur itu. Cerita mengenai sukarnya medan di pegunungan yang ada dan telah menelan banyak korban jiwa tak menyurutkan naluri petualangan mereka. Satu hal lagi, kabar hilangnya orang di sebuah pegunungan Nepal bukanlah kabar yang heboh. Ya, Nepal bak perawan garang yang menantang sang petualang.(Gaganawati DPH-25)

Bhorle dan Chitwan

SEBUAH daerah yang tak bakal saya lupakan selama perjalanan bersama tim Network for Voluntary Development in Asia adalah Bhorle. Daerah tersebut memberi gambaran mengenai karakter asli orang Nepal yang terkesan primitif, sederhana, ramah, dan eksotis. Rumah-rumah mereka terbuat dari batu beratap rumbia yang berdiri memenuhi sebuah bukit. Umumnya, setiap keluarga memiliki sebuah rumah utama dengan listrik 5 watt, plus sebuah rumah kecil yang gelap untuk dapur dengan kompor berbahan bakar kayu, serta sebuah kandang hewan untuk kerbau atau kambing di samping rumah utama. Selain itu, ada beberapa keluarga yang mengolah anggur untuk menjadi minuman. Kabarnya arak mereka ini terkenal sedap. Ironisnya, impor bir Tuborg asal Denmark merajai di segala penjuru Nepal.

Di daerah tersebut tinggal Suku Bhorle. Suku itu memiliki seorang kepala suku yang berperan pula sebagai kepala desa. Dia juga terkenal karena tariannya. Kami sempat dijamu dengan tarian dan musik khas Bhorle oleh masyarakat setempat. Yang menarik, kami selalu mendapat kalungan bunga dari rangkaian dedaunan dan bebungaan saat sebagai ungkapan "selamat datang dan perpisahan".

Oya, sebelum berangkat saya sempat membawa makanan instan dari Indonesia plus bumbu-bumbu instan. Salah satu bumbunya ada yang berlabel dengan gambar sapi. Tapi kalau itu saya keluarkan saat bersama orang Bhorle, wah bisa berabe! Kenapa?Mereka menolak makan makanan yang mengandung sapi. Sapi adalah hewan yang disucikan di sana, jadi dilarang dimakan. Terpaksa bumbu instan itu saya simpan rapi di saku-saku tas troli agar mereka tak tersinggung. Untuk memperdalam keakraban dengan mereka, saya membagi uang koin rupiah kepada anak-anak kecil Bhorle. Betapa senangnya mereka menerima pemberian itu.

Kembali ke Suku Bhorle, pagi-pagi sekali, kaum perempuan biasanya menyapu tangga-tangga rumah sebelum pergi ke ladang. Kalau mereka panen, biasanya mereka menumpang truk atau bis yang kebetulan lewat untuk membawa diri mereka beserta hasil panenan. Memikat sekali menyaksikan para wanita yang memakai ikat kepala dari kain duduk di mobil tumpangan menuju suatu tempat.

Menyusuri jalur jalan bertrapyang memisahkan wilayah Suku Bhorle dengan jalan raya, kita bisa melihat sungai yang airnya beraneka warna: hijau, kuning, dan coklat. Sungai itu membentang panjang di depan desa lainnya. Sungai cantik tersebut juga menawarkan atraksi rafting sesekali waktu. Selain itu, sebuah jembatan dibangun di sana untuk menghubungkan desa yang satu dengan desa lainnya.

Di mulut jembatan, ada beberapa warung yang menjajakan daging kerbau goreng yang gurih dan bir di ruangan kecil berpendar lilin. Asal tahu saja, kalau ketempat-tempat itu, kita harus ekstra hati-hati dalam menyebrang. Sopir-sopir truk dan bis Nepal memang terkenal gila dalam mengemudi. Kecelakaan sering terjadi. Meskipun begitu, toh banyak pula penumpang yang malah duduk di atap bus yang bergerak cepat, semnetara di kanan kiri jalan sempit yang dilintasinya hanyalah jurang dan jurang. Anda mungkin tercekam ngeri, tapi tidak bagi penduduk Nepal yang terbiasa dengan itu. Oya, di Nepal yang dingin itu, yang berseliweran di jalanan kebanyakan motor besar, bukan motor bebek seperti di sini.

Untuk refreshing, dari Bhorle kami rela menempuh perjalanan panjang dengan bis menuju Taman Nasional Chitwan. Itu taman yang mengasyikan dan tempat kunjungan yang tak mungkin dilupakan pelancong di Nepal.

Dalam perjalanan dengan bis sewaan, kami menikmati kerupuk yang mirip semier sembari menikmati alunan musik Nepal di dalam bis. Sebagian teman, duduk di atas bis atap bis. Hanya saja, kecepatan bis kami tak seperti kebanyakan bis lainnya yang melaju kencang.

Sesampainya di pondok "Jungle", kami disuguhi dua tarian Suku Taro. Pertama merupakan tarian perang dengan menggunakan stik yang dibawakan 20 penari laki-laki berpakaian putih-putih dalam iringan kendang. Tarian kedua menggambarkan percintaan, namun penari wanita adalah pria berdandan ala wanita lengkap dengan kosmetik dan rok lebarnya. Tak seorangpun yang menjelaskan mengapa tak ada penari perempuan di sini. Perkiraan saya, gerakan tariannya yang terlalu rancak mungkin sangat melelahkan bagi wanita. Taman Nasional Chitwan juga menawarkan pondok-pondok seperti rumah panggung yang nyaman dikelilingi pepohonan dan beberapa hewan seperti burung, anak gajah, dan anak badak. Paginya, kami berkeliling taman itu dengan naik gajah. Selain badak, kami beruntung melihat burung-burung cantik yang liar, juga rusa liar.

Selepas perjalanan tiga berkeliling hutan, kami beristirahat di tempat penangkaran gajah. Dari tempat itu, lamat-lamat saya melihat semburat putih menyelimuti sebuah gunung di kejauhan. Aha, itu Himalaya, gunung dengan puncak tertinggi di dunia hingga lebih dari 8.000 meter di atas permukaan laut. Puncak Everest. Kemasyhuran dan tantangan yang ditawarkannya sudah menjadi cerita yang umum.(Gaganawati DPH-25)
